Toronto secures an additional $104 million in funding for FIFA World Cup
All government funding for FIFA 2026 is now formalized with total funding at $371 million for Toronto’s portions of the games.
Toronto is one of 16 cities in North America where games will be hosted. The City will host six games beginning with the first men’s match in Canada on Jun 12 2026.
To reach compliance with stadium standards and security, the municipal, provincial and federal levels of government are all providing funding in the amounts of $170 million from Toronto, $97 million from the Province and $104 million from the Federal government.
Mayor Olivia Chow says that additional funding will be needed, so the City will be looking for more funding.
