NL to get over $100 million to repair wharves and infrastructure: federal, provincial governments
The recent federal budget committed to spend $460 million on wharf repair and infrastructure improvements across the country.
ACOA and Rural Economic Development Minister Gudie Hutchings was in Lark Harbour on the south shore of the Bay of Islands yesterday. She was there to announce assistance for the Lark Harbour-York Harbour-Little Port Harbour Authority and says NL will get more than $100 million.
Meanwhile, $13 million is going to the Coast Guard in the area to build a new wharf and station. Mayor Wade Park says they’ve been working on this for the past six years. Of the 900 harbours authorities in Canada, 300 are in NL.
