‘We have to play a much more physical brand of basketball’: Cascades men’s coach reflects on season
With the conclusion of the Canada West Men’s Basketball Tournament in Winnipeg, the 2023–24 season has come to an end.
In the quarterfinals, the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades lost to the University of Winnipeg Wesmen, who progressed to the championship game.
Before that, the Cascades beat the University of Regina Cougars (74-62) in the play-in round, despite their initial rankings as 11th and 6th seeds, respectively.
CIVL Radio interviewed Men’s Head Coach Joe Enevoldson to reflect on the season’s highs and lows and discuss how performance at the tournament will affect next year.
“Getting that top-four seed and getting that first round bye is crucial moving forward. But, in order to do that, we have to get better in the regular season, and we have to play a much more physical brand of basketball,” said Enevoldson.
