Independent film fest Cinema CNC returns to Prince George
After a four year hiatus brought on by the Covid 19 pandemic, the Cinema CNC Film Festival returns this weekend from March 15-17.
Festival Director Peter Maides joins CFUR News to share the joy of film and Canadian storytelling and talk about the challenges of mounting the festival after being out of commission for such a long time.
Much like campus-community radio, these festivals create a proving ground of sorts for independent artists to prove their worth, find an audience, and continue to create.
Though audio-visual media has proliferated into a number of access mediums like television, streaming platforms, youtube and so on, there are still many stories that Prince George residents would be unlikely to access without independent film festivals championing the indie content they curate.
This year the venue is centralized at Knox Performance Centre 1448 5th Ave.
