Downtown Mission’s biggest — and coldest — fundraiser of the year returns to Windsor
On February 24, people across North America will be embarking on the Coldest Night of the Year Challenge, walking either a 2k or 5k path. In doing so, they will demonstrate their support and raise funds for a local charity towards those without easy access to shelter or food.
The Coldest Night of the Year partner charity for Windsor is the Downtown Mission. The Mission discussed how they hope that by getting out and experiencing the coldest day for a few hours, people can start thinking about the privilege they may have and the importance of supporting those who are unable to go inside to warm up at the end of the day.
On February 7, CJAM spoke to Mike McCallum, the Special Events and Community Engagement Coordinator at the Downtown Mission, about the Coldest Night of the Year event and Windsor’s involvement in it.
