Quebecers call for end to ‘punitive’ social assistance rules at march
Over a hundred people gathered outside the CEDA offices on Tuesday afternoon to call for an overhaul of Quebec’s social assistance regime.
The event, organized by the Front commun des personnes assistées sociales du Québec, featured a march and a tongue-in-cheek bowling competition between organizers dressed as Quebec Finance Minister Eric Girard and Social Solidarity Minister Chantal Rouleau. The two ministers were criticized for their inaction on reforming this file.
CKUT spoke to community organizers about what they’d like to see change. The minister’s office did not respond to a request for comment.
