Ottawa Food Bank sees low food donations amid increased costs of living
With inflation having reached 5.92 per cent rate in 2023, the Ottawa Food Bank says it is seeing a significant decrease in food donations and yet there are more visitors asking for the organization’s help.
Food basics, CLV, InterRent and Premium Meats have all made hefty donations to the Ottawa Food Bank in the last few months, with Premium Meats promising their donation to be spread out over the next ten years. CEO of the Ottawa Food Bank Rachel Wilson says while food donations are lower, they are seeing more donations of money than ever this year with the rising grocery inflation.
