Minto’s Pride in the Park is back despite ‘neutral spaces’ petition
MINTO – Pride in the Park is back in Minto. It’s the fourth year the event has been held in the area, celebrating the Pride community and promoting inclusion, freedom and love.
The event comes as a group of citizens wants Pride banners taken down and all public spaces to be kept “neutral.”
Community volunteer with the Minto Pride Committee Samantha Greer says people will exercise their right to free speech and “all we can do is not focus too much on the hate but keep the focus on the positive work we are doing.”
This year’s event will feature a drag story-time with the performers behind The Fabulous Show with Fay and Fluffy. There will also be live music from the queer folk band Ground Cover, and food and craft vendors.
The event is Sunday, June 9 from 12-3 p.m. at Palmerston Lion’s Park Pavilion. All activities are free to enjoy.
