Chiefs office investigating illegal dumping at Oneida Business Park
Six Nations Elected Chief says her office is aware of illegal dumping taking place within the Six Nations community at the Oneida Business Park.
During the Feb. 13 General Council meeting Chief Hill said her office was made aware of the incident on Feb. 9 after discovering a large amount of industrial waste along with an animal carcass at the industrial area just off Fourth Line Rd. and Highway 6.
Chief Hill says her office is confident the waste has been brought from off-reserve projects due to the fact that Six Nations does not have any large construction projects currently taking place.
Chief Hill says her office has been in contact with the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks’ office to determine the next steps to address this incident.
Anyone who may have information on this incident is being asked to contact the Chiefs Office at 519-445-2201.
