Solar eclipse draws thousands to Jacques Cartier Park
Thousands gathered at Parc Jacques Cartier in Eastern Townships to witness a rare solar eclipse, eagerly anticipating the celestial marvel. The event, which began early Monday morning, culminated in three minutes and 23 seconds of darkness at 3:27 PM. Notably, some enthusiasts camped overnight in their vans to secure prime viewing spots.
Among the attendees was Tyler McBride, an amateur astrophotographer from Maryland, who traveled to the Eastern Townships to witness the event. McBride’s dedication reflects the passion shared by many for celestial phenomena. His setup, comprising a reflector telescope and a Sony a6700 camera, captured stunning images of the eclipse.
CJMQ News went down to a popular gathering spot to talk to McBride and other eclipse enthusiasts.
