Musical instrument lending library celebrates Ontario Trillium Foundation funding
Local MPP Ted Hsu met with the team at the Joe Chithalen Memorial Musical Instrument Library (Joe’s M.I.L.L.) last week to hear more about how they have been using the $28,000 Resilient Communities Fund grant they received from the Government of Ontario through the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).
Joe’s M.I.L.L. is a non-profit musical instrument lending library located at the Tett Centre in Kingston, with over a thousand instruments available for borrowing. The library was inspired by the late Joe Chithalen, a Kingston musician.
The Ontario Government gave Joe’s M.I.L.L. the OTF grant in the spring of 2023, and since then they have been using it to increase access to musical instruments for the Kingston community. They are also using the funds for weekly pop-ups in Rideau Heights, and improving their internal operations.
