Astor Theatre looking for new executive director – again
Liverpool’s historic Astor Theatre is losing its executive director after just six months on the job.
Jerri Southcott, who took over in February, recently told the board she would be leaving on Aug. 9.
It’s been difficult for the Astor Theatre Society to find and hold onto a manager.
When Southcott was hired, it had been four years since the Astor had had a full-time executive director. In 2023, the theatre tried twice to fill the job – the first person backed out before he started, the second resigned less than two months after taking it.
Southcott told QCCR on Tuesday that she’s leaving for personal reasons and to return to her career in communications with the federal government. Her tenure at the Astor was marked by controversy after a disgruntled employee resigned shortly after she took over.
Astor board chairman John Simmonds says he doesn’t know when or if the theatre will look for a replacement.
