Temporary primary care clinic NB Health Link faces same capacity issues as Horizon
When it was first launched nearly two years ago, NB Health Link was credited with reducing the wait list for primary care in New Brunswick. But now the temporary clinic system run by Medavie Health Services has become the registration list for those without a family doctor or nurse practitioner in the province.
The main difference between NB Health Link and its predecessor, Patient Connect NB, is that “while it is a registry, it also provides access to care while you wait to be permanently matched,” says Martine Des Roches, vice president of the Primary Care Network at Medavie Health Services, operators of NB Health Link clinics.
Des Roches was in Sackville last week as part of a community health meeting organized by MLA Megan Mitton, alongside her colleagues from Horizon Health Network, who are building up a new permanent primary care clinic in Sackville.
