VIU’s student press announces the return of its print magazine
After almost five years online, Vancouver Island University’s (VIU) school student press, The Navigator, has announced its return to print.
For 50 volumes the once-school newspaper-turned-monthly student magazine, The Navigator, also known by its nickname, The Nav, had been the student-led magazine at Vancouver Island University. But in 2020, The Navigator made the switch to stopping the print magazine and becoming a fully online press.
But now The Navigator wants to bring back its print magazine with biannual issues with the hope to have the first issue done by Christmas break so it can be printed and distributed by January.
Jenaya Shaw is the current Managing Editor for The Navigator, she came down to the CHLY studio to talk about bringing back the print magazine and what it means for the student press.
