N.S. Liberal MLA joins PCs as Minister of Community Services
Minister of Community Services and L’Nu Affairs, Trevor Boudreau will be stepping down from cabinet citing personal and health reasons.
Premier Tim Houston announced during a cabinet meeting on Thursday that Liberal MLA Brendan Maguire will be joining the PC party to take over the role as Community Services Minister.
Houston says Maguire knows how to “roll up his sleeves and get the job done.”
Maguire was first elected as a Liberal in 2013 and re-elected twice under that banner. Maguire says he plans to work to show his constituents it doesn’t matter what party he represents.
“The number one thing I heard during the last election was ‘I’m voting for you in spite of your party’,” Maguire says.
Minister of Advanced Education Brian Wong will be taking over Boudreau’s other file as Minister of L’Nu affairs.
