RCMP NL reminds everyone of their responsibilities during Motorcycle Awareness Month
RCMP NL is reminding everyone of their responsibilities during May which marks Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. As the riding season begins, there will soon be an increase of motorcycles on our roadways.
Cpl. Jolene Garland says motorcycle operators need to follow the speed limit, drive sober, check blind spots, wear a helmet, and consider wearing highly visible clothing. Motorcycles are much smaller than other vehicles which makes them harder to see, Garland added, so drivers should give motorcyclists their space by increasing following distance. Keep your eyes on the road – don’t drive while distracted or fatigued, check, and double check, blind spots and mirrors, Garland added.
