Parc Ex vigil honours victims of Quebec City mosque shooting
On Jan. 29, 2017, six men were killed and five others injured at a Quebec City mosque in an act of Islamophobic hate.
Seven years later, Ibrahima Barry, Mamadou Tanou Barry, Khaled Belkacemi, Aboubaker Thabti, Abdelkrim Hassane and Azzedine Soufiane were honoured at a vigil outside of Parc metro in Montreal.
The event was part of Muslim Awareness Week, which has sought to create links between the Muslim and non-Muslim communities for the past six years. Now, with the war in Gaza causing a spike in Islamophobia here in Canada, organizers say events like these are more important than ever.
