Kootenay climbing association looks to raise funds for new climbing centre
The Kootenay Climbing Association, the non-profit behind the Cube Climbing Centre, is screening the 2024 Women’s Adventure Film Tour this week as a fundraiser to build a new climbing centre in Nelson.
Construction on a new climbing centre in Nelson is projected to begin in 2026. This fundraiser is small part of a larger multi-million dollar fundraising target.
New at this year’s event is a silent auction during intermission with nearly $10,000 worth of donated gear, apparel, and gift certificates from outdoor brands and local businesses.
The Australia-based Women’s Adventure Film Tour celebrates inspiring women doing extraordinary things in the name of adventure, according to organizers. The screening will show eight films, including one titled “The Fabulous Life of Nancy Greene Raine” about the Olympic champion skier from Rossland, BC.
The event runs on May 10 at the Nelson United Church. To learn more, visit the eventbrite website.
