New ‘Not-For-Profit Academy’ to Support Kingston charities
Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KED) and the Community Foundation for Kingston & Area (CFKA), have partnered up to launch a new workshop series to help not-for-profit organizations tackle their unique challenges.
Non-profits play a big part in the Ontario economy, according to CFKA Executive Director Stacy Kelly. In an interview with CFRC he notes they contribute 8% of the province’s GDP and employ some 900,000 people. In Kingston there are over 150 registered non-profits.
Noting how non-profits face their own unique challenges, including often lacking staff in certain areas, working on a tight budget, and not having a specific ‘product’ to market, Kelly reached out to Kingston Economic Development (KED) to see what support they can provide.
In this interview, Kelly and Rob Tamblyn, a Business Development Manager with KED, explain how they came together to create the ‘Not-For-Profit Academy’ series, launching today and continuing on November 13 with two marketing-based workshops.
