Halifax council asks for update on last summer’s flood damage
Halifax regional council are asking for an update from Halifax Water, HRM Planning Development and HRM Public Works about the damage to properties and repairs needed after the floods took place in July 2023.
Coun. Lisa Blackburn requested the report stating that the flood damage was due to ditches and culverts that failed. At Tuesday’s council meeting, Blackburn said many of her constituents in District 14 had damage done to their properties because of the floods.
Coun. Pam Lovelace requested an amendment to the motion to add Nova Scotia Public Works to understand what is happening to provincial roads when floods happen.
Council voted unanimously in favour of the motion.
