Council explores possible GO bus extension to boost regional transit
Six Nations Elected Council (SNEC) are in talks with Metrolinx to have the GO Transit 15 Bus (Brantford / Aldershot) extended through Six Nations as part of a pilot program.
The proposed extension would run seven days a week, with four stops added to the route within the Six Nations territory to the three daily trips to the Aldershot GO station with stops in Brantford and Hamilton.
Metrolinx, who operates the GO transit system, say they have begun testing the route, and will need a commitment from SNEC to then have the extension approved by their board.
Six Nations Public Works’ Teresa Doolittle says the project’s earliest start date would be in December, but says it could be postponed to begin around April to mitigate weather impacts.
SNEC heard the information from Metrolinx during the Aug. 13 general council meeting and say more updates will be provided.
