CJRO News: Russell Township Question Period debate expands
A flyer distributed by mail throughout Russell Township caused a quick reaction from Township Council.
It follows Coun. Mike Tarnowski’s suggestion that Question Period on the Meeting of the Day be eliminated. The motion is to be discussed and potentially voted on at the Feb. 26 Regular Council Meeting.
The flyer says councilors do not want to answer the public’s questions, and calls for members of the public to attend the Feb. 26 meeting in person and to write their councilors. The council’s response to the flyer was that the flyer contained inaccurate information and the idea of eliminating Question Period on the meeting of the day (meaning items on the agenda and discussed in council) was meant to enhance public engagement.
