“Halloweek” takes a safe approach on Halloween for neighborhood kids
With Halloween approaching, Ma Mawi is a non-profit organization that is creating a safer experience for Winnipeg’s north-end neighborhood by offering indoor trick-or-treating.
With concerns about safety from authorities and parents in the neighborhood, the Lord Selkirk Developments had to create a safer way for kids to participate in Halloween. Ma Mawi took the initiative to make that happen by creating a week-long event called Halloweek.
“Kids could go trick-or-treating around the building and the gym, and they not only get to trick-or-treat, but they take part in games, family fun, and then they walk out and they have like, you know, a bag full of candy”, Crystal Leach, the youth program director explains.
Halloweek kicks off on October 24th and ends on Halloween Eve, and Ma Mawi will host events for children and families in the community.
