Centre Wellington continues to look for solutions to termite problem
Centre Wellington is not giving up in finding a solution to its termite problem.
A 2021 study by Centre Wellington found definite signs of termites on 153 properties in the township and 106 properties are at risk of infestation. Termites can cause significant damage to homes if left unchecked.
Council has directed staff to enter into negotiations with Aetna Pest Control out of Toronto.
Aetna is one of two vendors in Ontario that are licensed to provide the Sentricon bait stations they would like to use. If approved, staff would then survey residents about the program to grant access to their properties.
Coun. Barbara Lustgarten-Evoy expressed concern that staff won’t be able to address the problem this year.
Managing Director of Corporate Services Adam McNabb says he could not confirm if they would be able to reach an agreement before winter without talking to the vendor.
