Des Collines police investigating flaming camper trailer, possible shots fired near Quyon
After more than a week of silence, the Regional County Municipality (MRC) of des Collines police have released a public statement regarding a flaming camping trailer that was abandoned outside the fire station in Quyon on October 28, and possible gun shots fired at a witness.
“At this point, investigators are still determining the accuracy of certain facts and the circumstances surrounding the incident and are awaiting certain forensic results,” the statement notes. “As the investigation shows, this was an isolated incident in which public safety is not at risk.”
According to a report by Gatineau radio station 104.7 Outaouais, a volunteer firefighter from a neighbouring municipality witnessed the incident. The witness said he was shot at while pursuing the suspect along Chemin de la Swamp.
Despite several attempts, CHIP 101.9 was unable to interview a representative of des Collines police. Requests to the Municipality of Pontiac’s fire department also went unanswered.
The statement adds that information about the incident can be submitted confidentially by calling 1-800-711-1800 or online at https://signalement.echecaucrime.com/.
