Elora’s Tree Trust helps teach people how to gauge the health of trees
Have you ever wondered how to tell if the trees on your property are healthy? A new venture in Elora, the Tree Inventory Experience, is trying to help the public to learn more about just that.
The Tree Trust is a program of the Elora Environment Centre and is running the Tree Inventory Experience July-September. Their mandate is to help people protect and maintain the urban tree canopy.
If you are planting a new tree, Braedon Witt, program manager for the Tree Trust, recommends making sure you plant it at the appropriate depth for the tree to ensure it stays healthy. Witt says putting compost around your tree and pruning on a regular basis.
If you suspect you have a sick tree, he recommends calling in an arborist for a more professional assessment.
