Bill 44, a bill intended to increase the supply of homes, could have a negative impact on urban forests in the community, according to local environmental group Save Our Forests – Comox Valley.
At a Comox town council meeting on Wednesday, March 6, Mel McLauchlin, a representative of the group, spoke to the council about their concerns that the increase in multi-unit homes could see a decrease in urban forests in the community.
The group urges council to actively promote tree or land donations to the town with the accompanying income charitable tax credit.
