Simon Fraser University’s First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Student Association (FNMISA) is hosting its fourth annual “Honouring Indigenous Students” Powwow on April 11th.
Open to all attendees, the Powwows’ stated goal is to honour Indigenous students, past and present, while providing a space where people can learn more about the depth and beauty of Indigenous communities and cultures.
To learn more about the Powwow, we sat down in the studio with James Houle, an SFU Master’s student, Treasurer of FNMISA, and co-chair for the organization’s Powwow committee. During our conversation, we spoke about what attendees can expect from the Powwow and the importance of creating opportunities for community connection on campus
